Prime Minister Scott Morrison has not minced his words in describing today’s attack on Christchurch mosques as a “vicious, murderous” act of “right-wing” terror.
He has also confirmed that the suspect taken into custody is Australian during a press conference at Kirribilli House in Sydney.”We’re not just allies, we are not just partners, we are family. As family members with our New Zealand cousins today, we grieve, we are shocked, we are appalled, we are outraged, and we stand here and condemn absolutely the attack that occurred today by an extremist, right-wing, violent terrorist,” he said.

No immediate threats whatsoever’ to NSW: Berejiklian
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said she had been advised by senior police officials there were “no immediate threats whatsoever” to NSW residents, as she extended her sympathies to New Zealanders and the Muslim community.”I want to confirm to our citizens in NSW there are no immediate threats whatsoever. Everybody should feel safe,” Ms Berejiklian said on Friday. “I don’t want anyone to feel they can’t go about their normal business.”
Ms Berejiklian said she had been “shocked and shaken by the horrible acts of terrorism”.
“I know that I echo the sentiments of everybody in NSW by expressing our deepest sympathies and condolences to all New Zealanders.”I also want to deeply express our sympathies to many members of the Muslim community who are both shocked and reeling from what has occurred.”
Ms Berejiklian said NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller and other senior police officials were in contact with their counterparts in New Zealand and had offered assistance.Labor leader Michael Daley also extended his condolences as he condemned the violence.”Our thoughts are also with the Islamic community across New Zealand and Australia. They should rest assured that all Australians stand with them completely at this terrible time,” Mr Daley said.
